COACHING STAFF REQUIREMENTS

As per Softball Manitoba “ALL COACHING STAFF (HEAD, ASSISTANT AND MANAGER) REQUIRE A REPSECT IN SPORT CERTIFICATE AND CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK WITHIN THE LAST FIVE (5) YEARS“. If coaching a team at provincials, additional requirements can be found HERE

 

  • Criminal Record Check (CRC):
    • Complete In Person at your Local RCMP office (as of May 4th, 2023, timeline is a few weeks)
    • Complete an online check through Sterling Backcheck for a more rapid (est. 24-48 hrs. turnaround, cost is $25.00). You have to create an account.
  • Sport Manitoba links to:
    • Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders online certification (approx. 3 hrs. to complete)
      • If not certified, you are not a member in good standing and therefore not insured.
    • National Coaching Certification Program (for minor ball+):
      • Directions: on the Become a Coach page, click Coach Initiation in Sport and you’ll arrive at the coach.ca site.
      • Register/Login to The Locker, then click on the ELEARNING tab then choose Softball from the column on the left of the page.
        • FOCS Part 1 – Foundations of Coaching Softball (approx. 1-1.5 hrs. to complete)
        • Understanding the Rule of Two e-learning module
    • Making Ethical Decisions (MED): Must be taken through Sport Manitoba OR another Province if they are offering a virtual clinic (find available courses in MB HERE).
      • Once MED is complete, Make Ethical Decisions Online Evaluation (Evaluation) is available through The Locker.
        • Register/Login:  CALENDAR at the top of the page. You can set the filters to whatever preference you want. Once you find a Make Ethical Decisions course that works for you, click on it to register.
